Ed, E-d, Eeeeeeeeeed!
funny-man, one of the founding fathers of Israeli high-tech, and venture capital industry, inspiring storyteller and most importantly a terrific human being.
I shoot this last month after/before we had lunch in this extra posh restaurant at Tel-Aviv’s old port.

The food was semi-Oi!! But the conversation was a real Oi!! Oi!! Wait for the part in the clip where Ed mention this wonderful quote:
the older I get the better I used to be

Ed’s favorite site at that moment in time was: EuroSport.

I met with the folks @ LH, to discusse Virtualization n’ Elastic Compute Cloud as a data collecting methodology on one of their target audiences: the travel industry. The plan is using this information as part of an elaborate email campaign. One of the building blocks of this final execution is a fun video. This video will be used in one of the 5 landing page we are creating.

Production notes: It started by me kidnapping LH’s CEO for three hours of beach-time. As you can imagine, the four of us: him, I, his laptop, and the camera equipment were a bit like a jellyfish in a sea of beautiful bodys n’ relaxation. But, folks were kind.
In situation like this, what gets me excited are those happy accidents that make a-piece work. In this case, we were already half way through the shoot, as we had to move to the other side of the beach. As much as I’m convinced life is all about pain and suffering, I decided to move us, and avoid a trip to the emergency room. A paddle-ball tournament just started way too close to us, and I don’t know if you know this, but people take their ball games very seriously.

At this new location, I discovered a 73-year-old Yogi that starts his days with a two hours session standing on his head. I saw him, feel inLove and at the risk of attracting lots and lots of bad karma, interrupted his practice and asked him if he will be willing to be part of our shoot. Being the generous Yogi that he is, he said yes! Watching him , Mr. CEO and all the human traffic behind them made me think of shooting n’ cutting the clip the way I did. Enjoy.

My last trip to Austin was hectic then usual. With all work and some play, I had very little time to anything else like my beloved nationville usability clips. But as I entered Wilson’s cab on my way to the airport, I know I hit the jackpot.

Wilson was checking a twitter feed, while in a separate tab replaying to an email, and in another tab changing the track on his web-based radio service.

Delightful!

Wilson is part of the Kalenjin Tribe. The tribe numbers around 3 million and are the 4th largest ethnic group in Kenya.

Online communities always take a special meaning when coupled with political agenda or simply answering a strong need to connect like in the case of the African Diaspora. Kalenjin Online answer those needs with a sense of belonging to its member now residing are all over the planet.

Wilson’s favorite site at that moment in time was: Kalenjin Online.
The site’s description: "This website is the first step in raising awareness on the need to bridge the digital divide among the Kalenjin community. This portal will have the ability to guide it’s users into all facets of a community’s organizations, activities, assets, events, culture and its people, thus making it unique and distinguishable from other business based portals." More about the portal and its long term objectives can be found here.

Here’s a combination you don’t hear too often:  communal n’ wedding.
Put it together: A Communal Wedding.
My friend Ayelet
(pronounced: a-ye-leit)
and her partner Lvie
(pronounced: laa-vie)
are Israeli artiest collaborating within the framework of an artist group named:
  “The Tel-Aviv Group”.
Yes, all of them reside in Tel-Aviv :)

Last week, Ayelet n’ Lvie created a project that combined their background with a wedding event.
It wasn’t a traditional wedding ceremony as there was no religious representation, but a ceremony the two of them created while collaborating with other members of the groups plus others.

This part party, part performance piece, part exhibition took place at The Bat Yam Museum for Contemporary Art. This was my first time at the museum, I loved it, and highly recommend visiting the space.

As part of this project, Ayelet n’ Lvie created a full feature documentary that is now showing at the museum. In the documentary the group member discussed the wedding ceremony as a symbol of union plus other goodies.  Last month, on one of the weekends leading to the event, I helped out a bit with the movie’s production. Good Times! Here are a few of the PixS we took during the shooting.

Sweet Mike.
A surfer,
an affiliate genius
and most importantly a terrific human being.
I shoot this a few months ago while we were having dinner, and taking a break from the Affiliate Summit Miami festivities.

Note-to-Self: always shoot in the beginning of the evening, before that second glass of red wine.

Mikes favorite site at that moment in time was: SPAMusement.
The site’s description: “Poorly-drawn cartoons inspired by actual spam subject lines”

The ‘digital divide’ usually referees to the gap between
those who have and those who have not web access.

In this dialog, age also plays a role.

The conventional wisdom is that majority of young people,
in developing countries, can be found on one side while older people are on the other.
This translates to late teens and twenties having a much easier time getting around online than their older counterparts.

I feel the divide is less clear, as many think, especially online advertisers.
Therefore, I was glad to see two new ‘friends request’ on my facebook page.
One from Savta Dotty, a wonderful blogger I met while I was working on a citizen journalism project. Savta means Grandmother in Hebrew.
According to her ‘blogger profile’ she is 251, which is (embrace yourself) not really true.
I can tell you though she is at the 60 to 200 age bracket.
The other friend request I got on my facebook page,
was from the talented Lucy, a kid I met while working on a teen project on deviantart.
Two friends request at the same day
Age divide?
Not so much on my facebook.
